Caroline reveled in the magic and beauty in the world around her. She was our "Nature Girl" and an amazing artist.
The nature-inspired designs on the doors incorporate her artwork and creativity. On the left is "Day," where the sun shines down on butterflies fluttering among flowers. It is framed by a favorite verse we sang to start the day. On the right is "Night," depicted by an owl sitting quietly on a branch next to a ladybug. Carved on the branch is Caroline's signature "C" inside a heart and surrounding the picture is her nighttime prayer. The red butterfly stepping stone signifies a powerful soul and spirit, while the butterflies on the Library represent endurance, change, hope and life. |

'Caroline and I first discovered a Little Free Library at a school near our house in Shaker Heights. While we never got to build ours together, Caroline's Aunt, friends, family and neighbors helped bring this to life for Caroline. The slideshow shares images from the making of the Library.
We decorate our Library for the holidays and special times of year. We put new books, treats and surprises in regularly. Please stop by to visit! |
Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world.
Todd Bol created the first Little Free Library in 2009. Here he is at a bookstore event in Chagrin Falls, Ohio before his passing in October 2018. What a gift to have met him. “I really believe in a Little Free Library on every block and a book in every hand. I believe people can fix their neighborhoods, fix their communities, develop systems of sharing, learn from each other, and see that they have a better place on this planet to live.” |
If you'd like to visit, please find our Library (Charter #69977) at the end of Castlereagh Lane, Strongsville OH 44136.
